Responsibility

We, at IHCL, have inclusion and business responsibility embedded in our DNA and proudly carry forward the beacon of community service laid by our founder Jamsetji Tata. We give back to society by enabling livelihoods for less privileged target groups through skilling and leveraging our business value chain to support traditional art & heritage and social purpose organizations. We support our neighborhoods by maintaining & promoting public spaces, tourism spots & heritage sites. We persistently work towards optimizing energy and water usage and responsible waste management and regularly communicate our sustainability performance through United Nations Global Compact and Business Responsibility Reporting.

Corporate Social Responsibility

IHCL has championed the cause of skilling less privileged youth in the country since more than a decade; long before the inception of the CSR mandatory spend under the Companies Act, 2013 in the country. It’s a known fact how badly Indian youth at the bottom of the pyramid lack timely guidance & handholding for what they can do post high school to become employable. Our CSR & Affirmative Action effort has been focused on addressing this gap. We build capacities of institutions that serve the youth from poor socio-economic backgrounds & remote hinterlands and run industry relevant vocational training programmes that benefit such youth who drop out from the traditional educational system.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a prerequisite for our operations wherever we do business. Our teams work behind the scenes to maximize resource efficiency in each hotel, ensuring that water and energy are used judiciously and waste is reduced. To enable our guests to enjoy their stay while limiting their carbon footprint, we maximize our use of renewable energy, invest in water efficient infrastructure and constantly work towards ambitious targets for emissions reduction. Our hotels in environmentally-sensitive areas near natural parks, forests and fragile coastlines are constructed using local materials and eco-friendly design. Through projects for turtle conservation and coral reef restoration, we give our guests the opportunity to participate in preserving the natural beauty of the locations they visit. In the last year alone, all these efforts have resulted in more than 58,000 tons of COemissions avoided and more than 3.2 million kiloliters of water reused and recycled.

Employee Volunteering

Volunteering is the primary channel through which CSR & Inclusion initiatives are undertaken across the board. Year on year, we encourage associates to volunteer for participating in community development initiatives, Tata Volunteering Months, Tata disaster relief & rehabilitation programmes and environmentally responsible endeavors. Year on year, we have over 4000 volunteers contributing over 10,000 volunteering hours; actively undertaking training sessions, student assessments, etc. at our CSR skill training centers and various other community welfare & development efforts.

Safety

Safety and Security is critical to safeguarding the lives of Guests, Associates and all stakeholders as well as protecting the Company’s assets. IHCL’s hotels and allied businesses are committed to ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety and Security regulations and codes. Employees will protect their Health, Safety and Security by following policies, procedures, rules and instructions as prescribed.
